Yoga

Spirit of Creation is tenaciously committed to sharing the whole path, wisdom and experience of yoga, beyond pranayama (breathwork), asana (posture) and meditation, in every class.

Whether you join us for a 60-90 minute yoga class, a three hour yoga workshop, a longer yoga course, or you encounter yoga in one of our mixed discipline workshops such as Yoetry, Movement & Light or Full Moon Movement Alchemy, not only will you partake in an enlightening flow of pranayama, asana and meditation, you will learn deeply about the yogic philosophies underpinning the physical practice and exactly how each element of the practice benefits both our physical and energetic body.

The experience, purpose and philosophical science of yoga aligns seamlessly with Spirit of Creation’s practice and ethos that honours the inherent creative life force within us, professes of the intertwining of the physical and spiritual and invites us to tend to our energy to tend to our matter and vice versa, a current that runs deep through all of our offerings.

Yoetry

Harness the energetic magic of yoga's breathwork, mantra, meditation & movement, explore yogic philosophy, and practice creative wellness & writing techniques to nourish your spirit and channel your Truth into expressive poetry.

If you’re wondering why Yoga & Poetry are such a brilliant pair, you can simply look to our ethos: When we nurture our creativity, we nourish our spirit, and when we nourish our spirit, we nurture our creativity.

When we engage our creativity in any practice, just like when we engage in yoga, we experience divine union by connecting our mind, body and soul and connecting to the great eco system of natural life, of creation, of which we are all a part. This is one reason why we experience a comparable sense of spiritual bliss when we create and when we practice yoga - because we embody our most natural state of creative oneness within and with all.

Yoga is also a great warm up to creative writing. When we practice yoga, we engage our energy in ways that open us up our full creative potential and we harness the creative life force, that is our creative nature, itself. Poetry then gives us an expressive yet precise framework to alchemise this energy into art, providing a balance of structure and freedom as well as further tending to our creative facilities such as imagination and articulation, and our wellness through its expressive and reflective qualities.

Both poetry and yoga celebrate the harmony of energy and matter, the physical and the abstract, to create experiences and beauty. Poetry also unifies the liberty of license with the craftsmanship of technique much like yoga unifies discipline and expression, and both thrive on the unity of mind, body and soul that allow you to flourish into your highest self.

And all this is really just the beginning!

Come and experience the magic for yourself at one of our Yoetry workshops!

The theme of Yoetry changes workshop to workshop, though we do offer each theme more than once, and you can also book a Yoetry course to explore many topics.

A few of the themes we explore include:

Yamas &

Niyamas

The Yamas & Niyamas are the first two foundational steps of yoga according to Patanjali’s eight limb path of yoga.

They are the philosophies by which an individual on the yogic path must live. They are akin to moral codes that speak to how we treat ourselves and the world around us respectively.

Although they are the first steps of yoga, even before pranayama (breathwork), asana (postures) and meditation, our physical practice in the studio and our creative wellness and poetry practices can help us achieve these states of consciousness and behaviours in our daily lives off the mat and inspire our souls words to reach the page in how they serve our mind, body and soul.

Chakras

Chakra’s are energy vortices or storage points located throughout the subtle, energetic body, often depicted along the spine. When we engage certain chakras we harness the specific energy that they hold, and when all of our chakras are engaged and aligned we are able to reach our full potential. Working with the chakras is therefore an ideal pathway to tuning into and opening up our creative spirit - to reaching our full creative potential.

The chakras each relate to many areas of our lives: body parts, colours, senses, elements, emotional and mental states… they each offer profound creative inspiration and opportunity for self exploration, expression and development.

Four Elements

of True Love

The Four Elements of True Love are a Buddhist teaching. This Yoetry workshop allows you to energetically harness each of these aspects of True Love within and around you as well as ruminate on each through a poetic lens.

The Four Elements of True Love speak to how we love ourselves and others and are fruitful lessons on our artistic journey to creatively opening up and tending to our creative spirit.

Kids Classes & Courses

Yoga is an excellent way to nourish a child’s physical health and mental and emotional wellness.

The postures and movement in yoga enable children to gain spectacular mobility skills, balance, flexibility, strength and coordination.

The breathwork and meditation in yoga is incredibly regulating for the children’s nervous systems, encouraging mental peace and emotional balance.

There are many yogic chants that are comprised of simple syllables that are also excellent energetically for the children’s nervous systems and that they often find both calming and fun!

Introducing yogic ideas and history to children as we teach is very important to us - we want the children to understand the meaning and have awareness of the lineage of the information and practices from the beginning, so they grow really understanding the importance of these as well as with physical skills and balanced minds.

After School Clubs

& Long Courses

In our weekly after school clubs and longer one-three week courses children are introduced to a large and evolving array of postures, dynamic flows, breathworks, meditations and chants.

Children will not only learn the postures and their names but understand the benefits of these poses and practice routines connecting them together.

We will learn some flows and chants that we will repeat every week to achieve true mastery, and we will also learn some new postures, flows and chants each week that advance the children develop their skills.

One - Three

Hour Workshops

Our one-three hour yoga workshops all include breathwork, chanting, postures and flows and meditation.

Our one our workshops take the form of a traditional yoga class, like one the classes you would find in our weekly after school clubs.
