The Lighthouse

If you have a question relating to issues/ problems in your life – it's a good idea to write them down before sitting for this meditation, as it will focus your mind on the problem at hand. Hopefully this meditation will help you to answer them and help you move forward with your life.

Sitting down, slowly scan your body for tension, and relax all of your body – starting at your toes, and gradually working up towards the top of your head. Don't forget to relax your jaw, and forehead.

So –sitting comfortably and very relaxed….

Imagine yourself at the coast – up on a cliff – looking out over the ocean.

It's a beautiful evening. The sun is setting, the air is tranquil, and you feel energised by the beauty around you.

In the distance you see a lighthouse, with its light turning regularly and methodically round and round. Flashing as it heads in your direction.

Now – slowly make your way down towards this light house. There is a pathway gently meandering down the edge of the cliff which takes you to the shore…..now following the sea shore, heading towards the light. Raised on a large rock is the light house.

You make your way up to the doorway and enter – and gradually spiralling up the staircase to the top.

As you reach the top – you find yourself in the ‘light' room. The huge light slowly rotating. And as you stand there, looking out to sea – as the beam of light scans outwards – you see segments of your life being highlighted.

You stand and watch, fascinated as aspects of your life come alive before your eyes – seeing for the first time your problems and worries from a different perspective.

And as you stand there – one of these aspects of your life stands out more than all the others, and the beam of light now concentrates on this part only.

As you stand there, you are aware that someone is now standing beside you. It could be a guide or loved one. They are there to help you. They take you by the hand and lead you into the beam of light – towards your problems or thoughts. Go with them, knowing you are safe and protected – let them take you on a journey – illuminating your path – enabling you to find a new way forward in your life today.

Stay here for as long as you wish, or until you feel your question has been answered.

Now gradually you come back from your journey –arriving back at the lighthouse - Your guide wishes you well, and takes his/ her leave.

Slowly retrace your steps back to the top of the cliff, and in your own time, back to the room and normal awareness – remembering all that you have experienced on your journey.

Write down your experience – it will help you remember.
